A note of thanks

ThanksReaders,

As 2009 draws to a close, I wish to thank you for your storytelling, sharing and support.

Thank you for your openness to a different approach to telling the news — an approach that emphasizes timeliness and truthfulness.

Thank you for supporting efforts to cover the church in all of its dimensions — the joys, woes and all of the moments in between.

Thank you for the opportunities to share your stories and your writings. Hearing your thoughts is the best part of my day.

(THANKS – CONTINUED)

Thank you, too, for the heartfelt ways you lifted up your voices and lifted up one another through words, videos, poetry and photos. We aimed for respect over snark, and did pretty well.

Thank you for embracing the  21st  century technology at our disposal. Oh, what you taught me! I wonder what new ways we’ll be using to communicate by the end of 2010.

Thank you for valuing transparency over marketing and public relations spin. Because of your participation, we told stories that went beyond the church bureaucrats to focus on the people in the pews.

Thanks for not balking when the news disappointed.

Thanks, too, for the humorous, private notes about typos you spotted. Or about a piece of history or information that no one else had mentioned. And your story tips.

You’re Pretty Good Lutherans. I look forward to spending 2010 with you.

Happy  New Year,

Susan
